Purple Productions, headed by Producer Darren Reiter, is a Vancouver-based film production company which focusses on harnessing the very best in local talent to create original and locally shot independent feature films.

Founded in the mid 1990’s Purple Productions output spans a variety of genres including drama, comedy and horror: from the atmospheric and award winning drama Amazon Falls to the edgy romantic comedy Random Acts of Romance.

Amazon Falls, directed and produced by Katrin Bowen in conjunction with Purple Productions, is an uncompromising drama about an aging B-movie actress struggling against the burden of the Hollywood dream machine. Amazon Falls screened in the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival and garnered a number of accolades including: a Women In Film and Television Artistic Achievement Award for stunning and compelling direction for director Katrin Bowen; a Vancouver International Film festival (VIFF) Artistic Merit Award; and a Leo Award for Best Performance by Female Lead for actress April Telek. Purple Productions joined forces with director Katrin Bowen again to produce the edgy and hilarious romantic comedy Random Acts of Romance. Featuring Amanda Tapping (Sanctuary, Stargate, Supernatural), Random Acts of Romance was financed in part by Telefilm Canada and Rogers Telefund. It was broadcast by Super Channel in 2013 and had its world premiere at the 2012 Vancouver International Film Festival.
