For immediate release – Toronto, OCT, 2013 – Random Acts of Romance, director Katrin Bowen (Amazon Falls) has become matchmaker for the theatrical premier at the Magic Lantern Carlton Cinema in Toronto on November 8th.
Since Director, Katrin Bowen, will be in attendance for the opening weekend, she decided “What better way to honour the Random Acts of Romance within the movie than with some Random Acts of Romance in the Audience!” To participate, you just need to get a ticket for opening night, available for pre-sale at the Carlton Cinema, then contact Random Acts of Romance on Facebook with a message saying you want to be set up, and we will arrange your blind date. You meet at the movie, and there is an after party at the Blake House. What could be easier than that?
“It started on Facebook, hooking up my single friends to see the Random Acts of Romance, but then I thought, why not let everyone into the fun?!” says director and producer Katrin Bowen.
Random Acts of Romance is a clever, insightful, and hilarious fast-paced comedy about modern relationships and the downright bizarre ways people express love – a perfect film for a first date! Itsintense characters in extreme relationship situations bring the audience on an emotional rollercoaster. Punctuated by moments of uncomfortably illuminating hilarity, the characters confront situations we all identify with. Random Acts of Romance shows us that love is not perfect. It’s sloppy. It’s messy. It’s what makes us human.
Award winning Actors: Amanda Tapping, Zak Santiago, Robert Maloney, Laura Bertram, Ted Whittall and Sonja Bennett star in Bowen’s latest feature.
DAVID (Robert Moloney -The Odds) and HOLLY (Laura Bertram -Andromeda) are rich newlyweds who should be in love. When Holly accidentally runs over BUD (Katherine Isabelle -Endgame), a pot-smoking lesbian, who questions the couple’s passion for each other, she realizes that perhaps her marriage isn’t working. Meet MATT (Zak Santiago -Amazon Falls, V) and DIANNE (Amanda Tapping -Stargate, Sanctuary), the couple who met in college. Dianne was Matt’s teacher but it’s not going well now. After a stoned conversation with his best friend, BUD, Matt goes all out to win back his wife but she’s more interested in RICHARD (Ted Whittall -Once Upon A Time), the heartless, attractive millionaire who lives next door to BUD. Richard catches the eye of David’s secretary, LYNNE (Sonja Bennett-Young People F**cking), a timid girl who likes to stalk.. The actors give daring and hilarious performances that resonate long after the film is over. Amanda Tapping gives the performance of her career!
Written by Jillian Mannion, Kevin McComiskie & Katrin Bowen, the film was beautifully shot by Brendan Uegama and edited by Franco Pante, with original composition by Step Carruthers and sound design by Stephen Hamm. The original soundtrack features some of Canada’s most electrifying indie pop bands.
